In terms of pots and pans, I just use the basics.
I'm not a snob like that.
-Aerin Lauder
American billionaire heiress, Aerin Lauder, is certainly humble in her approach to cooking, and, I, for one, appreciate her sensibility and how relatable she is to the average person. I would be lying, however, if I didn't admit to a sudden urge to splurge on fancy cookware following this year's Charleston Wine + Food festival. Are you similarly inspired in the kitchen or wanting to engage in a little culinary creative snobbery, yourself?

Well, you're in luck. Now through the end of March we have teamed up with Le Creuset, the famed and pricey french cast-iron cookware coveted for its vast selection of brightly-colored enamel finishes, to offer deep discounts on their products to our readers.

From bakeware to stainless steal, to cooking tools and utensils, we have everything you need to look like a snob without the price tag that comes with being one. Shop away!
Shop our deals and inspire others with your colorful collection:

Did you know? Le Creuset maintains its U.S. presence right here in the Lowcountry. The company's U.S. corporate waterfront headquarters overlooks the Charleston Harbor on the banks of the Ashley River in the West Ashley district of the City of Charleston.

Williams Sonoma threw a party and we were there

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- J. R. R. Tolkien
One thing is certain, Williams Sonoma must have understood what Tolkien meant at their Chefs' Collective Pop-Up held recently on King Street in Charleston. The event which happened during the 2017 Charleston Wine and Food Festival did not disappoint anyone in attendance. What do you get when you add a DJ to a retail space and mix it with chefs, bartenders, and guests? A party and we're glad they did. Cheers!
Guests chatted up chefs and bartenders

The Corsair by Trick Dog's Scott Baird

We love a good party especially in a retail store. When's the last time you partied somewhere unexpected?
Tell us! We'd love to hear your adventures.

Scenes from an Oyster Roast

The life of man is of no greater importance to the universe than that of an oyster. -- David Hume

Scottish philosopher David Hume was right when it comes to the oyster's popularity in the Lowcountry. Winter brings with it the time-honored tradition of communal gatherings centered around the shellfish known as The Oyster Roast. This ritual is as iconic to the region as the smell of pluff mud is to our noses. And for the 34th year, the Granddaddy of them all, the Lowcountry Oyster Festival sponsored by the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association took place January 27, 2017, at Boone Hall Plantation. From the tailgating atmosphere to the dedicated shell recycling, these pictures tell the story of an ardent love affair and obsession with the all-important oyster.

Shell recycling is an important part of the oyster's life cycle. The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources manages a shell recycling program whereby shells are reintroduced to salt water to improve the natural habitat. BevCon Charleston wraps 2016 conference today

Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain.
Quaintest thoughts -- queerest fantasies
Come to life and fade away;
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today.

-- Edgar Allen Poe

The best minds in the culinary and beverage industry came together for a learning and networking opportunity filled with tastings, parties, book signings, takeovers, and a finale at The Windjammer on Isle of Palms. Edgar Allen Poe would have found inspiration among the spirits, wine, beer, and mixers -- as well as experts -- on hand for this multi-day event. Hosted by Hyatt Place in historic downtown Charleston, guests attended learning sessions and tastings in Sterling Hall, bar takeovers along King and Bay Streets, educational excursions, book signings, and various off-site parties including the aforementioned Grand Celebration at The Windjammer. Travel + Leisure's World's Best City is a natural choice given its reputation as a top food destination as recognized in "The 10 best food cities in America, ranked" by The Washington Post's James Beard Foundation award-winning Food Critic Tom Sietsema. Proceeds from this year's conference are slated to benefit various food and beverage-related charities.
